OWINGS MILLS — Baltimore Ravens starting cornerback Samari Rolle underwent surgery this week to repair his injured neck and will be out for at least a month, if not several weeks, according to coach John Harbaugh.

Top draft pick Sedrick Ellis will be lost to the New Orleans Saints for two to four weeks with a right knee injury. The defensive lineman from Southern California has a medial meniscus tear. He left Thursday’s practice after hearing what he said was ”kind of a click” in his knee. Ellis has started all four games this season for the Saints (2-2).

Bears suspend Harris for violations of rules
The Chicago Bears suspended defensive tackle Tommie Harris for Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions. Coach Lovie Smith said Thursday that Harris broke a team rule, but he didn’t immediately explain what it was. Harris didn’t play over the weekend against the Philadelphia Eagles due to a knee injury. But the three-time Pro Bowler had been expected to play in Detroit.
